Edo to Host 2026 Niger Delta Games

Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has assured athletes and officials of a memorable experience at the Second Niger Delta Games, scheduled to take place in Benin next year.

Accepting the hosting rights on Tuesday, the governor said Edo would provide a conducive environment, top-class facilities, and a strong competitive spirit, declaring that the state intends to “host to win.” He added that unlike the previous edition in Uyo, where Edo participated with its “third 11,” the state would field its strongest athletes in 2026.

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) unveiled Edo as host state at a ceremony held in the Government House Ballroom. NDDC Managing Director, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, said the choice of Edo was deliberate, citing its robust sports infrastructure. He also pledged that the commission would rehabilitate some facilities ahead of the games.
