The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency says it has seized more than 7.6 million tramadol pills and over 76,273 kilogrammes of cannabis during nationwide operations carried out between December 1 and 6. NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi said the raids targeted major trafficking routes, warehouses and forest hideouts used by drug cartels, leading to multiple arrests.
Large quantities of opioids were intercepted in Delta, Imo and Adamawa states, including over 3.8 million tramadol pills recovered from a warehouse in Asaba and 1.2 million tramadol tablets seized from a vehicle along the Onitsha–Owerri road. The agency also arrested several suspects linked to the shipments, including drivers and couriers transporting concealed drugs across state borders.
In separate operations across Ekiti and Ondo states, NDLEA officers destroyed drug storage sites in deep forest locations. More than 74,000 kilogrammes of cannabis were burnt or recovered during these raids, and suspects were arrested in Omuo-Ekiti, Asin-Ekiti and Igoba forest in Akure North.

According to the agency, further arrests were made in Niger, the FCT, Lagos and Edo states, where officers recovered cannabis, Canadian loud, colorado and thousands of exol-5 pills. The NDLEA says it is also continuing its War Against Drug Abuse sensitisation programmes in schools, worship centres and communities, with Chairman Buba Marwa commending officers involved in the operations.
