The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has seized cocaine hidden in food flasks destined for the United Kingdom. The NDLEA says its operatives discovered twelve parcels of cocaine, weighing just under three kilograms, concealed in the false bottoms of food flasks at the export shed of Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos on the ninth of April. The consignment was due to travel on a Virgin Atlantic flight to the UK. Three people have been arrested in connection with the seizure, including two cargo agents and a freight forwarder.
In a separate airport operation the day before, officers intercepted nearly three kilograms of high-potency cannabis hidden inside snack food packaging, which had arrived on a Delta Air Lines flight from the United States. Three suspects, including a fashion designer, were subsequently arrested.
Beyond Lagos, the agency conducted operations across several states. In Kaduna, officers recovered 847 kilograms of cannabis from a cement-laden trailer on the Kaduna-Zaria highway. In Cross River State, a joint operation with the military led to the destruction of 15,000 kilograms of cannabis cultivated across six hectares of farmland. Further seizures and arrests were recorded in Edo, Delta, and Lagos states.
