Victor Osimhen has been named the GQ Turkey sportsman of the year. The 26-year-old striker received the award at the GQ ‘Men of the Year’ gala held in Istanbul on Wednesday.
The annual awards, organised by GQ Magazine’s Turkish edition, celebrate achievers in fields such as music, film and sports. Osimhen was recognised for his performance with Galatasaray last season, where he scored 37 goals and made seven assists in 41 matches to help the club win the league title.
His form contributed to Galatasaray breaking the Turkish transfer record with a €75 million move from Napoli. Osimhen has continued his strong run this season with 11 goals in 14 matches.

Other award recipients included Turkish actor Aras Aydın as international achiever of the year, actress Sinem Ünsal as woman of the year, British-Turkish musician Edis as music person of the year and Bahtiyar Büyükduman as chef of the year.
