Real Madrid beat city rivals Atletico Madrid 2-1 to reach the Spanish Super Cup final after a semi-final clash at the King Abdullah Sports City stadium in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Goals from Fede Valverde and Rodrygo secured victory for Xabi Alonso’s side, setting up a Clasico final against Barcelona on Sunday.
Madrid took the lead inside two minutes through Valverde’s powerful free-kick before Rodrygo doubled the advantage in the 55th minute, finishing calmly after breaking through Atletico’s defence. Atletico pulled one back three minutes later when Alexander Sorloth headed in Giuliano Simeone’s cross, but they were unable to find an equaliser despite late pressure.
