The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors, NARD, has suspended its planned nationwide strike earlier scheduled to begin on Sunday, January 12. The decision was announced in a statement issued by the association’s Secretary-General, Shuaibu Ibrahim, following a National Executive Council meeting held on Saturday, January 11.
The association said the move followed firm commitments secured through the intervention of Vice-President Kashim Shettima, alongside engagements with key stakeholders in the health and labour sectors.
NARD confirmed that reports of earlier committees set up by the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare have been implemented, while a new reconciliation committee has been established to address outstanding issues, including disputes at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Lokoja.
