Israel’s ambassador to Nigeria, Michael Freeman, has accused Iran of sponsoring Islamic movements in Nigeria as part of efforts to spread terror globally. He made the allegation during an interview monitored by Radio Now’s Newsdesk.
Freeman claimed the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, also known as the Shi’ites, is backed by the Iranian government. His comments come amid rising tensions in the Middle East following recent United States and Israeli air strikes on Iranian targets.
Earlier this week, members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria staged protests in several Nigerian states, including Lagos, Kano, Kaduna and Sokoto, condemning the reported killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, during the strikes on Tehran.
