Iran’s Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni has met with Pakistan’s army chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, according to officials who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorised to discuss the matter publicly.
The meeting comes amid escalation of hostilities in the region as well as the collapse of an interim deal between Iran and the United States.
The United States carried out fresh strikes on Iran late Monday, U.S. Central Command confirmed, hours after President Trump warned Tehran would “pay” for the deaths of three American service members in recent days. Iranian state media reported explosions in multiple locations.
The U.S. is increasing fighter jet deployments to the Middle East, with dozens of aerial refuelling tankers arriving in Israel and more en route.
Regional spillover, on the other hand, has continued. Kuwait intercepted “hostile targets,” air raid sirens sounded in Bahrain, and Jordan said it shot down Iranian missiles.
Commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz remains severely disrupted, with GPS spoofing making vessel tracking increasingly unreliable.
