President Bola Tinubu has received a ceremonial welcome at Windsor Castle as he began a two-day state visit to the United Kingdom. The Nigerian leader and his wife, Oluremi Tinubu, were hosted on Wednesday by King Charles III and given full military honours, including a 42-gun salute.
The couple were earlier received by Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales, before travelling to Windsor, where they inspected a Guard of Honour. The programme included an exchange of gifts and a viewing of Nigeria-related items in the Royal Collection.
A state banquet is scheduled later, with both leaders expected to deliver speeches, while the president and his wife will also lay a wreath at the tomb of Queen Elizabeth II in St George’s Chapel. They are also due to meet organisations involved in interfaith dialogue.
