FIFA has fined the Israel Football Association 150,000 Swiss francs for breaching its anti-discrimination rules. The sanction was announced on Thursday following an investigation into allegations of racism in Israeli football.
FIFA’s disciplinary committee found that the association failed to take meaningful action against Beitar Jerusalem over what it described as persistent and well-documented racist behaviour by supporters. The probe began after a complaint by the Palestine Football Association in October 2024.
The committee said sanctions imposed by the Israeli FA were inadequate and cited repeated incidents, including the use of offensive chants directed at Arab players. It also criticised the association for failing to publicly condemn racism or promote inclusion within the sport.

In addition to the fine, FIFA issued a warning and ordered the Israeli FA to display anti-discrimination messages at its next three home matches in FIFA competitions. The association must also allocate part of the fine to measures aimed at preventing further incidents.
