Norway’s football federation says it will lodge a formal ethics complaint against FIFA president Gianni Infantino over his handling of Folarin Balogun’s suspended red-card ban at the World Cup.
NFF president Lise Klaveness told The Times that Infantino’s decision to suspend Balogun’s automatic one-match ban — after President Trump personally called him requesting a review — “put the whole game at risk” and lacked proper process. She noted the call was made solely by disciplinary committee chairman Mohammad al-Kamali, without consulting other members.
Belgium, incensed by the ruling, thrashed co-hosts USA 4-1. Norway previously complained over FIFA awarding Trump its inaugural Peace Prize. Klaveness also criticised proposals to expand the World Cup to 64 teams, calling the idea premature and risky for trust in the competition.
