DJs’ Group Places Boycott on Burna Boy’s Music Following Lagos Fight

The Nigerian DJ Association has announced a ban on all music by Burna Boy after a physical altercation involving the singer and DJ Tunez. The incident took place on Monday at Obi’s House, a weekly Afrobeats event in Lagos. What began as a heated argument between Burna Boy and DJ Tunez escalated into a physical confrontation, with members of Burna Boy’s team allegedly joining in before bystanders intervened to restore order.

In response, the Nigerian DJ Association issued a lengthy statement on Instagram announcing a boycott of Burna Boy’s music across its network until further notice. The association stated that Burna Boy’s music is temporarily out of any of its DJs’ playlists and that a proper investigation will be carried out into the incident involving DJ Tunez.

The statement also called for unity and respect within the entertainment industry, condemning discrimination and hostility. The association emphasised that it puts all its DJs first and stands firmly on the principle that all DJs are equal.

The NDJ further pleaded with all communities to be tolerant and to reject prejudice based on caste, creed, sect, religion or gender, adding that freedom and equality must be ensured for all DJs nationwide. The association noted that it is fully against the discrimination of any of its members. The association did not specify a duration for the ban, saying only that it remains in effect until further notice.
