Troops of the Nigerian Army have foiled a large-scale illegal oil bunkering operation along the Lekki–Ibeju coastal axis of Lagos, arresting 15 suspects. The operation was carried out in the early hours of Friday following intelligence on crude oil theft activities near the Dangote Refinery corridor.
Security sources say the suspects were caught siphoning petroleum products from an offshore vessel through an improvised pipeline into a tanker truck stationed onshore. Troops also dismantled the syndicate’s network at the scene.
Recovered items include a Mack tanker truck, a Lexus RX 350 vehicle, a Ford Ranger pickup, pumping machines, a 40-horsepower Yamaha engine, and large quantities of industrial hoses used in the operation.
