President Bola Tinubu has approved two billion naira in relief support for victims of the March 29 attack in Angwa Rukuba, Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State. At least 28 residents were killed when gunmen opened fire at a popular bar during the incident. The president’s special adviser on information and strategy, Bayo Onanuga, confirmed the intervention in a statement issued on Wednesday.
Onanuga said the minister of humanitarian affairs and poverty alleviation, Mohammed Dorro, announced the support at a high-level stakeholders’ meeting in Abuja. The meeting, attended by a 32-member delegation from Plateau State, focused on finding lasting solutions to recurring violence in the state. It also fulfilled the president’s earlier promise to engage stakeholders following the Angwa Rukuba attack.
The president called on leaders across Plateau to work collectively toward restoring peace, noting the state’s long history of coexistence among diverse communities. He urged participants to return to their communities with a commitment to reconciliation and practical peacebuilding efforts.

Traditional ruler Da Jacob Gyang Buba called for stronger security measures, including increased military presence and surveillance systems, as well as support for displaced persons to return home before the rainy season. The delegation included former governors such as Simon Lalong, Jonah Jang, Joshua Dariye and Fidelis Tapgun, alongside political, religious and community leaders.
