China urges end to Iran war, opening of Strait of Hormuz
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has met Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Beijing as tensions continue over the Strait of Hormuz and the wider Iran conflict. The talks come days before US President Donald Trump’s scheduled visit to China on May 14 and 15, 2026.

China called for an end to the war and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, stressing the need for negotiations and restraint. Beijing said it supports a comprehensive and fair agreement, while urging all sides to avoid a return to hostilities.

Araghchi said Iran values its relationship with China and is seeking a fair deal in ongoing talks with the United States. He also highlighted Iran’s intention to protect its interests while maintaining diplomatic engagement during the conflict period.
