The Federal Capital Territory High Court on Monday issued a bench warrant for the arrest of Saleh Mamman, the former Minister of Power, following his absence from court proceedings.
Presiding Judge Maryann Anenih revoked the bail previously granted to the former minister, who is being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) alongside seven others on a nine-count charge of conspiracy and obtaining by false pretence to the tune of N31 billion.Â
The judge ruled that the trial would continue in Mamman’s absence in accordance with Section 352 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act 2015, after the prosecution counsel, Rotimi Oyedepo, urged the court to issue a bench warrant and proceed without the defendant.

This marks the second arrest warrant issued against the former minister within a week, as he is also facing separate charges at the federal high court in Abuja, where he was recently convicted in absentia on all 12 counts in a different case.
