The Federal Government has warned Nigerians against travelling out of the country without valid travel documents, saying such actions are illegal and expose citizens to serious risks. The Nigeria Immigration Service gave the warning in a public alert posted on X on Monday.
The Service spokesperson, DCI AS Akinlabi, said all international travel must be done with a valid passport, visa where required, and other approved immigration documents. He stressed that bypassing official procedures or using unauthorised border routes violates Nigerian law.
The Nigeria Immigration Service also raised concern over increasing cases of fraudulent migration schemes, where criminal networks lure citizens with false promises of jobs, education, or better living conditions abroad. It warned that such schemes often lead to forced labour, trafficking, and exploitation.

The agency urged Nigerians to verify all travel and recruitment offers through official channels and report suspicious activities to the nearest immigration office or relevant security agencies, while advising against dealing with unregistered agents.
