The Nigerian Army says troops of the air component of Operation Hadin Kai have killed 27 suspected terrorists in separate air strikes on insurgent hideouts in Borno State.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the army said 12 insurgents were killed in an air strike on Dawoshe in Kukawa Local Government Area, while another 15 were killed during a precision strike on Metele in Guzamala Local Government Area.
The army said the operations formed part of a wider weekend security campaign involving joint land and air forces in Borno, Plateau, Nasarawa, Akwa Ibom and the Federal Capital Territory. It said the operations led to the arrest of 10 suspected criminals, the rescue of eight kidnap victims, and the recovery of arms, ammunition, stolen vehicles and other items.
The military also reported the arrest of suspected kidnappers and cattle rustlers in Plateau State, the rescue of two abducted persons in Nasarawa State, the interception of two suspected carjackers along the Abuja-Lokoja highway, and the recovery of suspected stolen petroleum products in Akwa Ibom State.
