Nollywood actor Emeka Ike has filed a lawsuit at the Federal High Court in Abuja against the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and Lere Olayinka, media aide to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, over alleged breach of personal data.
The suit, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/1272/2026 and filed on 15 June 2026, follows allegations that Olayinka published screenshots on social media showing details of Ike’s voter registration transfer without his consent.
In the originating summons, Ike is asking the court to declare that the publication violated his constitutional right to privacy and the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, and that INEC failed in its duty to safeguard voter information under its custody.
He is also seeking 10 billion naira in damages, alongside an order compelling the defendants to retract the publication and issue a public apology across social media and national newspapers.
