UK Deputy Defence Chief Arrives in Borno to Support

The United Kingdom’s Deputy Chief of Defence Staff, Lieutenant General Sir Charlie Collins, has arrived in Maiduguri, Borno State, to support Nigeria’s counterterrorism and stabilisation efforts in the North-East.

The British Defence Staff West Africa announced the visit on Tuesday, saying it would provide an opportunity to observe UK-Nigeria military cooperation and support ongoing Nigeria-led security operations in the region.

In a statement posted on social media, the command welcomed the senior UK military officer, noting that he would engage with Nigerian Army officials in Maiduguri to assess joint efforts aimed at strengthening security and regional stability.

The visit follows President Bola Tinubu’s state visit to the United Kingdom in March, where he reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to deepening security cooperation with the UK in addressing terrorism challenges in the Sahel region.
