President Bola Tinubu has ordered the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission to investigate the so-called Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, known as PFIPC, and submit a report within 30 days.
In a statement from Special Adviser Bayo Onanuga, the Presidency said PFIPC is fictitious and has no legal basis after one Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew claimed to be its Director-General and a presidential appointee.
Investigators will probe alleged forged appointment letters, claims used to seek diplomatic support and visa help, and multiple bank accounts opened in the name of the non-existent agency. The ICPC will also examine any officials or institutions that may have enabled the scheme and recommend reforms to prevent a repeat.
All federal ministries and agencies have been told to cooperate fully.
Adeyemi has accused Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila of demanding money for his appointment, an allegation Gbajabiamila denies, threatening a ten-billion-naira defamation suit.
Adeyemi already faces forgery charges over the council, which the Presidency calls fictitious, though he maintains it’s legitimate, citing its listing in the 2026 budget. He’s due back in court July 27th.
