The Television Academy has announced nominations for the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards, with HBO Max’s medical drama “The Pitt” leading all nominees with 25 nods, including Outstanding Drama Series and a Lead Actor nomination for Noah Wyle.

On the comedy side, “Hacks” closed its final season with 24 nominations, a new record for a comedy series in a single year, surpassing the previous mark of 23 set by “The Bear” and “The Studio.” Apple TV’s new horror-comedy “Widow’s Bay” led all freshman shows with 19 nominations, followed by “Pluribus” with 18, Netflix’s “Beef” with 16, and “DTF St. Louis” with 13. HBO Max topped all networks and platforms with 122 total nominations.

Nominations were unveiled Wednesday by past winners Liza Colón-Zayas and Jeff Hiller at the Television Academy’s Saban Media Centre. Late “Bear” actor Rob Reiner received a posthumous nomination, while Jason Bateman earned four nominations.

The ceremony airs live Monday, September 14, on NBC and Peacock, hosted for the first time by “Law & Order: SVU” star Mariska Hargitay.
