Fake agency DG to be arraigned on Tuesday

Presidency Says Fake Agency DG Will Face Trial

Police are set to arraign Adeniyi Adeyemi, self-acclaimed Director-General of the disputed Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday, on an eight-count charge of forgery, impersonation and conspiracy.

The charge, filed in November 2025, was previously adjourned in June after Adeyemi was said to be too unwell to appear. Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, whose October 2025 petition triggered the police investigation, is listed among the prosecution’s witnesses, alongside civil servants who worked with Adeyemi, a hotel owner, a pastor, and a police officer.

Evidence expected to be tendered includes Adeyemi’s alleged forged presidential appointment letter dated March 2024 and documents used to open multiple Central Bank accounts and request office space across all 36 states.

Adeyemi, who allegedly ran the fictitious agency from the Federal Secretariat in Abuja, denies wrongdoing and says he’s cooperating with a separate ICPC probe ordered by President Tinubu into how the council, among other things, opened multiple accounts and used false documents to successfully seek official recognition and diplomatic support.
