Almere City defender Hamdi Akujobi has renewed calls for a chance to represent Nigeria at senior international level, urging Super Eagles manager Eric Chelle to consider him for future selection.
Born in Rotterdam to Nigerian parents, the 25-year-old remains eligible for both the Netherlands and Nigeria but maintains a strong desire to wear the green and white of the three-time African champions.

Akujobi was named in Nigeria’s provisional squad for the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup but failed to make the final list. Since then, he has progressed steadily, impressing in the Dutch league with consistent performances.
After early development at Feyenoord and a senior debut at Heerenveen, he joined Almere City in 2022, helping the club secure promotion to the Eredivisie. His standout season included five goals in 34 matches and a place in the Eerste Divisie Team of the Year.
He now hopes to translate club success into international recognition.
