Suspected bandits have abducted eight people, including relatives of the Sokoto State deputy governor, in a raid on Garin Idi village in Sabon Birni.
Residents say the attackers, who arrived on motorcycles around 1am on Thursday, fired gunshots for about two hours, forcing villagers to flee, while no security response was reported.
Local sources say the gunmen initially rounded up about 30 people before releasing some due to limited space and taking away eight victims, including five women and three men, along with over 100 mobile phones and cash.
