The Federal High Court in Abuja has struck out a N50 billion human rights suit filed by Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), against the Federal Government.
The presiding judge, Justice Inyang Ekwo, dismissed the case due to lack of diligent prosecution. The court observed repeated absences by Mr Kanu’s legal team, despite three prior adjournments. On the most recent occasion, only counsel for the Federal Government was present.

Mr Kanu had accused the government of violating his fundamental rights, claiming he was abducted in Kenya and unlawfully renditioned to Nigeria to face trial. He sought a judicial declaration on the legality of the alleged extradition.
The Attorney-General of the Federation was also named in the suit.
With no legal representation from the claimant on multiple occasions, Justice Ekwo concluded the matter could not proceed and accordingly struck out the case.
