Court grants ₦5m bail to activist Justice Crack

A Federal High Court in Abuja has granted bail to activist and social media commentator, Justice Chidiebere, popularly known as “Justice Crack”, in the sum of ₦5 million.

The ruling was delivered on Monday by Justice Joyce Abdulmalik, who ordered that the bail must be backed by one surety in a similar sum. The court said the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and must provide proof of residence, such as a tenancy agreement or certificate of occupancy.

The judge further directed that the surety must be a federal civil servant not below Grade Level 15, with evidence of three months’ salary, a letter of authentication from a head of department, and proof of pensionable employment. Justice Abdulmalik also ordered the defendant to deposit his international passport with the court.
