Don’t Join Planned Strike, Olisah Metuh Urges Southeast NLC

The former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Olisa Metuh, is urging the South-East Chapters of the NLC not to participate in the proposed nationwide strike slated for this Wednesday.

In an open letter to the NLC, South-East Chapter, Mr Metuh called on the workers to see beyond the immediate difficulties and consider what he calls the larger benefit of ending the corrupt subsidy regime.

The ex-PDP spokesperson asserted that the life wire of the South-East is its entrepreneurial spirit which thrives on daily commercial life.

He pleaded with the unions, saying this spirit must not be repressed by shutting down the South-East homeland which has been greatly impoverished by sponsored security challenges.

Mr Metuh also called on President Bola Tinubu to cut the budget of the Presidential Villa by removing luxury items and reducing the number of Presidential aides.

He advised the President to appoint ministers, special advisers and other aides who are ready to forgo luxury cars, expensive accommodations and fat allowances.
