At least 27 Palestinians were killed and scores wounded on Tuesday after Israeli forces opened fire near a food distribution point in Rafah, southern Gaza, according to local health officials. It marks the third consecutive day of deadly incidents linked to aid operations in the besieged enclave.
The Israeli military said troops responded to individuals deemed a threat after they strayed from an authorised route near the site. Hours earlier, Israel confirmed the deaths of three of its soldiers during operations in northern Gaza.

The International Committee of the Red Cross reported receiving 184 casualties at its Rafah field hospital, with 27 confirmed dead. Footage from the area showed injured civilians arriving on donkey carts.
Elsewhere in the Strip, at least 18 additional deaths were reported in separate Israeli strikes.
The UN human rights office warned that blocking access to food may constitute a war crime and urged an independent investigation.
