Ebonyi Police Dismiss Claims of Bandit Invasion in Nguzu Edda

The Ebonyi State Police Command says there are no bandits or suspected Fulani herdsmen operating in Nguzu Edda Community in Edda Local Government Area. The clarification follows a security sweep of the area after reports of an alleged invasion went viral on social media.

In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Joshua Ukandu, the command said the Commissioner of Police, Hope Okafor, ordered an immediate verification after the claims surfaced online. Tactical units were deployed to the community to conduct search-and-comb operations across the surrounding bushes.

The police said the operation confirmed that no armed groups were present in the area, describing the viral report as false, misleading, and capable of causing panic. The command urged residents to disregard the claims and continue to report suspicious activity to security agencies.
