European Council President António Costa has voiced deep concern over the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza and rising violence in the West Bank during a phone call with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.
Mr Costa expressed full backing for the United Nations’ five-phase humanitarian aid plan for Gaza and called on Israel to lift its blockade, urging immediate and unhindered access for relief supplies in line with international law.

The UN plan includes aid inspection at crossing points, transport to facilities, preparation for distribution, and final delivery to civilians.
The European Council, representing EU member states, has stressed the need for urgent international cooperation to prevent further deterioration in the region.
