Residents of Ibadan and its immediate environs experienced an explosion about 8pm last night.
It is not yet clear what caused the explosion, but in a statement, Dotun Oyelade, the Hon Commissioner for Information and Orientation, says the government is in full control of the situation.
He added that all security agency heads in the state have been deployed to contain any spillover from the situation.

The statement also added that the state governor, Seyi Makinde, is imploring citizens to calm down and be rest assured that their interests are being looked after.
The Oyo State Police Command, while confirming the incident, said the number of casualties is still unknown.
