Human rights lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Femi Falana, has responded strongly to accusations from FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, who claimed Falana misrepresented a Supreme Court ruling on the Rivers State defection crisis.
In a statement released on Monday, Falana denied any wrongdoing, stating that his analysis was both factual and constitutional. He accused Wike of attempting to incite the judiciary against him, describing the minister’s comments as a deliberate distortion.

Wike had criticised the senior advocate for allegedly spreading misinformation about the defection of 27 lawmakers from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress, warning that such statements could trigger political unrest in the state.
Falana, however, cited constitutional provisions guaranteeing freedom of expression, noting that the matter is currently before the Federal High Court in Port Harcourt. He also challenged Wike to report him to the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee if he believed professional misconduct had occurred.
