The Federal Government has approved ₦10 billion for the 2026 grant cycle of the TETFund National Research Fund — a 33% increase over last year’s ₦7.5 billion, which funded 174 research projects.

TETFund’s Executive Secretary, Sonny Echono, says the funding will support research across 30 priority thematic areas, spanning Humanities and Social Sciences, Science and Engineering, and cross-cutting national priorities.

The portal for concept-note submissions opens today, August 31st, with a firm deadline of October 15th. TETFund says there will be no extension. Only lecturers in public tertiary institutions are eligible, and multidisciplinary research will be encouraged. Successful concept notes will advance to a full-proposal stage, with final awards requiring approval by TETFund’s Board of Trustees.
