FG Approves N12bn Backlog Of Salaries, Allowances For Nigeria’s National Teams

The Federal Government has approved the sum of N12 billion as payment for outstanding salaries and allowances for Nigeria’s national teams of various sports.

In a statement, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale, said the payment also includes the senior national team’s coach salaries running up to 15 months.

This is coming at a time when the Super Eagles of Nigeria are preparing to participate in the 2023 African Cup of Nations. Nigeria’s squad in the tournament is made up of three goalkeepers, nine defenders, five midfielders and eight forwards.

The tournament will be held in Cote d’Ivoire from January 13 to February 12, 2024.
