The Federal Government has generated over N6.9 billion in revenue from the mining sector in the first quarter of the year. This was revealed by the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake, in a statement issued on Monday.
Alake said the figure was achieved through mining fees and the registration of 118 new private mineral buying centres. He added that the Mining Cadastral Office processed 955 applications, including 651 for exploration and 270 for small-scale mining.

The minister attributed the performance to increased investor interest and awareness, driven by the government’s reforms and targeted advocacy. He also cited Nigeria’s new leadership role as chair of the African Minerals Strategy Group as a major milestone.
Alake said the government remains committed to value addition and discouraging the export of raw minerals, positioning Nigeria as a key player in Africa’s mining future.
