The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, says the first draft report of the ongoing review of the 1999 constitution will be ready in August 2024.
Speaking at a press conference organised by the House Committee on Constitution Review on Thursday, the Deputy Speaker said the committee is pushing to ensure that the first draft of the work it is trying to do in the constitution will be ready.

He added that the second draft will be out and zonal inputs will commence from October 2024. The committee will keep collecting inputs from citizens from October 14, 2024 as it prepares for the last version or that last draft copy of the constitution.
The committee at its inauguration on Monday, in Abuja, gave a 24-month timeline for the conclusion of the exercise.
