Nigeria’s Flying Eagles secured a commanding 2-0 victory over Ivory Coast’s Young Elephants in a pre-Africa Cup of Nations warm-up match at the Stade Félix Houphouët-Boigny on Wednesday evening.
After a tightly contested first half, captain Daniel Bameyi broke the deadlock from the penalty spot, dispatching his effort with precision into the bottom right corner. Ivory Coast pressed for an equaliser, spurred on by their home crowd, but Nigeria remained resolute. With eight minutes left on the clock, Foster Academy forward Divine Oliseh doubled the lead, ensuring a comfortable win for the visitors.

The result provides a significant morale boost for the Flying Eagles as they intensify preparations for the 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, set to take place in Côte d’Ivoire.
Both sides will meet again on Friday at the same venue, with kick-off scheduled for 4:30pm Nigerian time.
