The federal government has signed an agreement with South Korea to establish an electric vehicle manufacturing plant and develop charging infrastructure across the country. The memorandum of understanding was signed by the minister of state for industry, John Enoh, and representatives of South Korea’s Asia Economic Development Committee.

The National Automotive Design and Development Council, NADDC, said the project will be carried out in phases, starting with vehicle assembly before expanding to full local production. It said the planned facility is expected to have an annual capacity of 300,000 electric vehicles and generate about 10,000 jobs, in line with Nigeria’s national energy transition plan and automotive industry development plan.
