Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi, says a single four-year term is sufficient for any focused and sincere leader to deliver meaningful impact in Nigeria.
In a statement issued by his media spokesman, Ibrahim Umar, Mr Obi argued that even a short period of poor leadership can cause significant harm—suggesting, therefore, that four years of purposeful governance can equally bring about real change.

He maintained that a single term in 2027 would respect Nigeria’s zoning arrangements and help stabilise the polity.
Obi reaffirmed his intention to contest the 2027 presidency and dismissed suggestions of becoming a running mate to Atiku Abubakar.
He also defended working with figures from past administrations, citing their experience as vital to avoiding systemic failure.
