Three of Nigeria’s leading gospel musicians—Nathaniel Bassey, Mercy Chinwo, and Moses Bliss—have made significant inroads on the international stage, securing positions among the country’s most-streamed acts on YouTube Music during the first quarter of 2025.
New data released by Top Charts Africa places Bassey at the forefront of the gospel contingent, racking up an impressive 52.8 million streams between January and March. Chinwo follows closely with 46.4 million, while Bliss rounds out the trio with 41.5 million plays over the same period.
Chinwo’s enduring appeal remains undiminished, anchored by the continued success of ‘Excess Love’, which has now surpassed 133 million views. Bassey, too, posted strong performances across multiple tracks in his growing catalogue.
Elsewhere on the chart, Afrobeat star Rema retained his dominance at the top of Nigeria’s streaming hierarchy, amassing 223 million streams in the quarter under review. His global hit ‘Calm Down’, featuring American pop star Selena Gomez, has now eclipsed 2.5 billion plays, cementing its place among the most streamed songs in the platform’s history.
