A Chief Magistrate Court in Abuja has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of blogger Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), over alleged criminal defamation against gospel singer Mercy Chinwo.
Magistrate Emmanuel Iyanna issued the order on Thursday after VDM failed to appear in court following a summons on March 5. The magistrate instructed the Nigeria Police and other security agencies to arrest and present him in court.

VDM’s lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, pleaded with the court to withdraw the warrant, assuring that he would personally produce his client. However, the magistrate rejected the appeal, insisting that security agencies ensure VDM’s appearance.
The case stems from VDM’s social media claims linking Chinwo to a contractual dispute and the alleged diversion of $345,000 involving her former record label boss, Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu, also known as Eezee Tee. Chinwo’s legal team presented evidence refuting the allegations, describing them as damaging to her reputation.
