Governor Fubara Withdraws From Rivers APC Governorship Primary

Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has withdrawn from the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary in the state, announcing his decision in a personal statement on Wednesday night. Fubara said he stepped down out of conviction and sacrifice for the state to move forward in peace and unity, adding that after deep reflection and extensive consultations with his family, friends and associates, he took the difficult but necessary decision.

He stated that leadership is ultimately about sacrifice, and that there comes a time when personal ambition must yield to the greater good of the people, with the peace, stability and unity of Rivers State taking precedence over every personal interest. The governor said he remains committed to serving the people of Rivers State till the end of his term.

Fubara expressed deep gratitude to his supporters who stood firmly with him throughout the journey, acknowledging the disappointment and pain many may feel. The governor also stated that he will support whoever emerges as the candidate of the party.
