The governor has directed the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) Sector Commander, Mr Franklin Agbakoba, and the State Commissioner for Transport, Mr Obi Ozor, to ensure that all tankers carrying inflammable materials in the state are fitted with anti-spill locks to prevent future accidents.
Preliminary investigations by the FRSC indicate that the tanker’s brake failure caused the spill. The FRSC confirmed that 11 lives were lost on the spot, while others who were injured have been rushed to hospital. The FRSC also thanked the governor for his prompt response and commitment to covering the medical expenses of the victims.
