Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu met with President Bola Tinubu on Sunday at the president’s Bourdillon residence in Ikoyi, in what observers say was a move to calm growing rumours of political tension.
The meeting, attended by key members of the Governor’s Advisory Council—the top decision-making body of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Lagos—comes on the heels of perceived cracks within the party’s power structure.

Talk of a rift intensified following the controversial removal and swift reinstatement of House Speaker Mudashiru Obasa, alongside Governor Sanwo-Olu’s absence from two major presidential events in Lagos.
Social media buzzed earlier this month after President Tinubu appeared to snub the governor during a federal project inauguration.
Speaking after Sunday’s closed-door meeting, Governor Sanwo-Olu dismissed the speculation, describing the Preident as ‘a father and leader.’
The gathering was also attended by top Lagos figures, including Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat and presidential chief of staff Femi Gbajabiamila.
