In response, the Bayelsa State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) strongly condemned the incident, describing it as “a rape on the media family in Bayelsa and an attack on press freedom.”

A statement signed by NUJ Chairman Comrade Tonye Yemoleigha and Secretary Comrade Stanley Imgbi called on the State Police Commissioner to investigate the matter thoroughly and ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice.
