Armed men suspected to be robbers have attacked Rhythm 94.7 FM, a private radio station located in Swali, Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital.
The assailants stormed the station around 4:40pm on Saturday and reportedly returned the following day, making away with mobile phones, recorders, and other operational gadgets belonging to staff on duty. Fortunately, no lives were lost, but station workers have been left deeply traumatised.

In response, the Bayelsa State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) strongly condemned the incident, describing it as “a rape on the media family in Bayelsa and an attack on press freedom.”
A statement signed by NUJ Chairman Comrade Tonye Yemoleigha and Secretary Comrade Stanley Imgbi called on the State Police Commissioner to investigate the matter thoroughly and ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice.
