Gunmen have attacked the office of the Onelga Security Peace and Advisory Committee, OSPAC, in Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers State, killing an operative of the State Intelligence Service. The victim, identified as Corporal Friday Francis, was shot dead during the attack, which took place around 9pm on Monday behind the council secretariat.
Eyewitnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots, prompting panic and forcing residents to remain indoors for safety. The assailants fled the scene before the arrival of security forces. No group has claimed responsibility, but police say the incident may be linked to ongoing cult-related violence in the area.

The Commissioner of Police in Rivers State, Olugbenga Adepoju, who visited the scene earlier today, described the assault as a direct threat to community peace. He urged residents to assist the police with credible information that could aid investigations.
In response to the attack, security patrols and surveillance have been intensified across Ahoada, with authorities urging locals to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
