Brazilian Vice President Geraldo Alckmin has arrived in Abuja for the second session of the Nigeria–Brazil Strategic Dialogue Mechanism, aimed at strengthening cooperation between both countries. Alckmin, accompanied by his wife, was received at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport by senior Nigerian officials.
The high-level visit marks the start of a three-day summit expected to produce over 30 Memoranda of Understanding across key sectors such as defence, agriculture, energy, health, education, and culture. Vice President Kashim Shettima will host the delegation and lead joint events, including the opening session at the State House Conference Centre.

Officials present at the airport reception included the Deputy Chief of Staff to the President, Senator Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia, and ministers from the agriculture, livestock, and trade sectors. A joint press conference by the Nigerian and Brazilian foreign ministers is also scheduled as part of Tuesday’s programme.
The Presidency described the dialogue as central to Nigeria’s Renewed Hope Agenda, noting that Brazil’s experience in agribusiness and energy transition aligns with the country’s development goals. The visit will be capped with a gala dinner hosted in honour of the Brazilian delegation.
