Former presidential adviser Hakeem Baba-Ahmed has criticised the administration of President Bola Tinubu, saying it has so far failed to meet public expectations in both governance and economic management.
Speaking in an interview monitored by Radio Now’s Newsdesk on Tuesday, Mr. Baba-Ahmed expressed concern over the quality of leadership, particularly in light of worsening living conditions since the removal of the petrol subsidy. He noted that the policy, while perhaps irreversible, has placed a heavy burden on ordinary Nigerians.

He urged the federal government to address what he described as widespread resource mismanagement at the state and local government levels, and called for stronger oversight to ensure funds from subsidy savings are effectively utilised.
Mr. Baba-Ahmed also raised broader concerns about accountability, insecurity, and poverty, and challenged the presidency to enforce greater discipline across all tiers of government.
He was sharply critical of Nigeria’s recent presidents, suggesting a pattern of declining leadership since 1999.
