The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Walson-Jack, has admitted that her office failed to conduct adequate due diligence before approving establishment and recruitment requests linked to the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC).
Speaking before the House of Representatives Ad Hoc Committee investigating the council’s activities, she said officials relied on documents and representations submitted by the organisation without independently confirming their authenticity.
Walson-Jack acknowledged that stronger verification procedures should have been applied before issuing the authorised establishment and recruitment waiver. She also clarified that no civil servants were deployed to the council and no office space was allocated to it.
The committee is examining how the purported agency secured official recognition and approvals, despite allegations that it lacked a lawful basis for its establishment.
